Welcome to Kitichapweza

Supporting children who live or beg on the streets into school

“We had seen the boys a few times, always checking how they were and on this particular day we popped to say hello and saw that they had set up a little ‘duka’ on the pavement. The duka sold 4 starfish, a beautiful red in colour, but barely alive, placed on some old newspaper arranged in order of size. The boys were hungry. We chatted about what the boys needed, both immediately and long term. We made sure they had food and made plans to meet again. Kitichapweza (starfish in Kiswahili) was born.”
